Amy happy with Ride for a Purpose turn out.
The initiative was a commemorative gesture towards her aunt, who was a victim of such violence.
An estimated 400 bikers made their way to Hartebeespoort Dam on Sunday, March 30, as part of Holy Rosary School’s Ride for a Purpose initiative.
The event was aimed at raising awareness about domestic violence and was initiated by Holy Rosary debutante, Amy Driver.
The initiative was a commemorative gesture towards her aunt, who was a victim of such violence.
Amy Driver initiated the event with the help of her mother, Ms Shareen Driver.
“The event was so exciting. I travelled on the party bus and I had family members, along with my cousins, representing us on the motorbikes. I would like to thank everyone who came with to ride for a purpose, it was amazing. It was also important to have a good turn out of participants – which we had. It was amazing and I was happy to see my cousins excited,” said Amy.
“I hope this outreach can turn into an annual event in which every year a girl from the school comes forward and tells her story. We hope we can go to other schools in the area because there is a child everywhere who wants to open up and talk about domestic violence.”
