Jeppe SAPS concerned about crime

The Jeppe SAPS is concerned about the spate of theft out of motor vehicles, house burglaries and thefts that have been reported in recent weeks.

“These cases are reported on a daily basis at an alarming rate and it is a concern. Most of the vehicles that are broken into are parked on the streets. The owners of some vehicles also do not have closed garages,” said Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer.

He said criminals are stealing radios, spare wheels, batteries and any valuables left lying on the seats.

“We urge the community to refrain from buying stolen goods. By doing this you will contribute to reducing crime. The community can stop more people from becoming victims as well. People must be made aware that buying stolen goods is a crime and is punishable under South African law. Help us fight crime by reporting it,” said W/O Munyai.

Call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or the Jeppe SAPS on 011 624-6000/6060.
