Breast cancer bra drive
The items are then donated to the partners, Reach for Recovery, which is an international breast cancer support group and upliftment project.“We decided to take part in this initiative because one of the staff members is a breast cancer survivor, so the project is close to our hearts,” said Mrs Sutton.
A Breast Cancer Bra Drive was held on November 8 at the Green Valley Shopping Centre.
The owner of Simply Gorgeous, Mrs Juliet Sutton, said the pink drive initiative is something close to her heart and the main objective is to collect sleep wear and bras.
The items are then donated to the partners, Reach for Recovery, which is an international breast cancer support group and upliftment project.“We decided to take part in this initiative because one of the staff members is a breast cancer survivor, so the project is close to our hearts,” said Mrs Sutton.
“We have collected over 500 items in our store and they will be handed to breast cancer survivors.”
She said they have been running the Bra Drive since July and would like to urge more people to get involved.
“People need to realise that breast cancer is not just for October; people need to be involved and donate throughout the year,” she added.
On the day, they also conducted free clinical breast examinations.
Mrs Sutton also urged women to get checked regularly to make sure that any lumps are discovered as early as possible.
People who want to donate can do so at any of their stores.
