Residents expect results

Community expected results.

Residents demanded answers at a feedback meeting held with ward councillor, Clr Carlos De Rocha, last weekend.

“Last year we addressed some issues within my ward. The community is interested to see what has been done because my ward still needs a lot of work,” said Clr Da Rocha.

Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) representative, Mr Silas Tloubtla, who admitted in a previous meeting to poor service delivery, gave a presentation on the work that has been done since.

“Some of you will remember, promises were made last year and these promises were not kept. I just want service in my ward. I am forced to demand services,” said Clr Da Rocha.

Members of the community raised the same concerns. These included pipes that were dug up on the side of the road, obstructing traffic and ‘dampening the look of the area’, and potholes.

Ward members, along with Clr Da Rocha, share their frustrations in having to waste time on the same issues.

Clr Da Rocha organised a walk-about in his ward recently and highlighted each department’s responsibility to his ward in the hopes of this leading to positive results.

Mr Tloubtla acknowledged the problems raised at the meeting.

“I have been in contact with the ward councillor on a daily basis since Monday, May 18.

“Clr Da Rocha has been sending me some of the problems discussed at the meeting. We have agreed that our team will inspect, make a schedule and establish dates to repair. I will monitor the implementation of the repairs daily,” said Mr Tloubtla.
