Drive away winter blues with quiz night

The annual quiz is one of the Modderfontein Conservation Society's highlights of the year and will take place in the Modderfontein Town Hall on June 18.

The Modderfontein Conservation Society’s Pam Vermont Memorial Quiz has been moved from July to June, due to the previously booked speaker having to attend an overseas conference.

The annual quiz is one of the society’s highlights of the year and will take place in the Modderfontein Town Hall on June 18.

The quiz start at 7:30pm.

The quiz remembers Mrs Pam Vermont, who passed away in August 2013. Mrs Vermont and her husband Robbie organised the quiz from its inception in 2003. It was previously known as Pam’s Quiz. Mr Vermont will continue to run the quiz in her memory.

Mr Vermont said people can keep the winter cold at bay by joining in the fun on the evening.

“The quiz has a general knowledge theme,” he said.

“The questions cover a wide variety of subjects, from science and current affairs to plants, fish and birds. They are mostly easy, but some are more testing so that a winner will emerge,” he said.

There will be 100 questions to be answered by teams of eight.

Bring a team or simply join up with other like-minded folk for a fun evening.

“Lively debate and discussion is expected as the answers to the questions are revealed,” said Mr Vermont.

He also reminded those attending to bring pens, pencils and some scrap paper. He also suggested dressing warmly.

Visitors are welcome.
