Cubs go hiking
Before the hike started, the Cubs received a talk about several safety precautions to take while hiking.
The 1st Edenvale Cubs went on a hike in the Modderfontein Conservation Reserve on June 13 as part of the nine and 10 year old advancements.
The day started at 9am when six of the Cubs met to start their journey.
Arkela first sat all the cubs down for a talk about the safety aspects of a hike, what clothing to wear, the necessity of having the right food and quantity of water for a hike.
After all the formalities, the excited Cubs set off with their cub leader, Raksha (Felicity), for a three hour, 10 kilometre hike.
The cubs were fortunate enough to see a few fish eagles, some buck and a snake.
They crept under fallen tree stumps, up rocky hills and over a stream. After lunch, the cubs sketched some of the landmarks along the way.
