Highlands dancers excel at champs
The Shaw - Butler dancing studio's students, trained by Merryl Hofmeyr, excelled at the recent SA Highland Dancing Championship.
Alicia Walters (16) won the SA Highland Dancing Championship title for the second consecutive year. She started dancing in 2008, at the age of nine, and has achieved first place in Fling, SheanTrews, Strathspey and Reel of Tulloch.
The Shaw – Butler dancing studio also won the top studio trophy. The competition was adjudicated by two international and two local adjudicators.
The dancers won a total of 14 trophies and the studio also produced five section winners and runners up.
In the 16 to17 year old SA Championships, Alicia Walters took first place and Megan Moore took third place.
In the 18 years and older SA Championships, Leonie Murray took second place and Sarah McAlpine took third place.
