Gogos visit Pretoria

The gogos were entertained by Idols contestants.

Zamokuhle gogos enjoyed the company of their peers recently.

Residents from Alexandra spend time each week at the Rand Aid Association’s Thembalami Care Centre as part of the Thembalami’s Zamokuhle outreach programme.

The care centre started the outreach programme in 2009.

The focus is on providing older people from the nearby Alexandra and River Park the chance to leave the house three times a week and enjoy the company of their peers.

The Zamokuhle gogos, as they are fondly known, took a trip on the Gautrain to Pretoria on August 28. They spent the day at the Pretoria State Theatre.

Ms Maria Manyiki, the tour guide, also took the gogo’s to the art gallery, the drama theatre and the opera theatre.

When they had arrived at the Youth Theatre, they were lucky enough to see the current South African Idols contestants rehearsing.
