Local pupil excels on cricket field
In 2014, he received the Best U/10 South East Rand Batsman and the Best U/10 South East Rand Player awards.
Laerskool MW De Wet Primary pupil Tiaan Haywood will represent his school for the fourth consecutive year in the South East Rand Cricket team.
In 2014, he received the Best U/10 South East Rand Batsman and the Best U/10 South East Rand Player awards during the Gauteng Cricket Tournament.
He was also selected as the best U/9 South East Rand batsman in 2013.
Tiaan represented the school this year in the first cricket team and achieved the highest score of 60 not out. He was recently selected to play for the Kempton Junior Cricket Club U/12 A1 team.
He also represented the school at the annual Gauteng Cricket Tournament that was held from October 2 to 5.
During the tournament, Tiaan scored the highest team total of 72 runs and ended the tournament on an average of 39.3.
Tiaan will be attending the Gauteng South U/11 cricket trials at the end of October.
