Hijackers target motorists at intersection

The man was waiting at a traffic light when he was hijacked.

Two men, armed with a firearm and a knife, hijacked a man at the corner of Cleveland Road and Main Reef Road in Cleveland.

The incident took place on October 13, shortly after 10pm.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said the man was waiting at a traffic light when he was hijacked.

“Two men approached him. One pointed a firearm at the driver. The men dragged the victim out of his vehicle. The suspects then drove off in his car, leaving him on the road,” said Const Mashakane.
