EMM to tackle aging infrastructure

Edenvale water leakages to be fixed.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) responded to complaints regarding water leaks in the Edenvale area.

The EMM’s spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe, said all water and sewer pipe line repairs are done as and when required, depending on the municipality’s maintenance and operation programme.

“The maintenance plan is interlinked with the master plan that informs the need for pipe replacement. All repair work that needs to be done is divided into rankings, depending of the severity and costs involved, such as capital projects and Opex projects,” he said.

According to Mr Gadebe, these programmes are aligned to the Integrated Development Plan and the municipality intends on replacing aging infrastructure.

“The replacement of the Edenvale water infrastructure has been placed as a priority to be fixed soon,” said Mr Gadebe.
