The manhunt for the gang of 12 attackers who assaulted and murdered two men and raped one woman at Rhodes Park on October 17 is still on.
At the time of going to print, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said no arrest had been made.
She urged anyone with information about the crime and the whereabouts of the 12 attackers to come forward.
She said on the day, two couples were sitting at the park when a gang of 12 men approached them.
One of the victims was 25-year-old Westbury High School teacher, Mr Zukiswa Kela.
“The attackers assaulted the two men, tied their hands and feet and then threw them into the lake. They also raped one woman. The other woman was able to fight the attackers off,” said Const Mashakane.
The bodies of the two men were recovered by police divers three hours later.
It is said the men escaped through the water tunnel between the lake and soccer fields at Rhodes Park.
Const Mashakane said anyone with information can contact the Cleveland SAPS on 011 677-5700.
