Permission needed for fundraising

Due to an increasing number of fraudulent fundraising events, the NEWS will request a letter of permission from the registered organisation before pre-publicity or post-publicity of an event will be granted.

This comes after the NEWS was made aware of several events claiming to benefit charity organisations were held, but no funds were handed to the relevant organisations.

In some cases the organisations were not even aware that funds were raised on their behalf.

When requesting pre-publicity or post- publicity for an event, please include a letter of authorisation from the organisation set to benefit from the event.
