A man was killed this morning after tons of wet ash fell on top of him.

A man was killed this morning after tonnes of wet ash fell on top of him.

Mr Max Cohen, the spokesperson for EMER-G-MED Ambulance services, said at around 8:40am this morning, paramedics responded to reports of a man who was  crushed by wet ash at a dump site in Modderfontein.

“On arrival, paramedics found that the patient had succumbed to his injuries. He was declared dead at the scene.”

The coal dumpsite is in Modderfontein, is situated next to the explosives complex.

“Witnesses said the patient climbed out of the bulldozer, at which time a few tons of wet ash fell on top of him, pushing him into the bulldozer. This caused his fatal injuries. Local authorities were called in to investigate further,” said Mr Cohen.
