Residents protest over demarcation

The residents of Denver ward 65 are protesting over recent demarcation changes.
Mr Welcome Mncunu a resident of Denver said the City of Joburg has moved ward 65 to 118 without consulting with the community.
“We were not informed about the changes and we are not happy about it. We invited the committee responsible for the demarcations to explain to us why was our ward moved to 118.
“No one came. If the matter is not resolved we are not going to register for the upcoming elections because we don’t want to be part of 118” said Mr Mncunu.
According to Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi the community started demonstrating at 3am this morning.
The situation is being monitored.
