St Benedict’s hockey team visited Netherlands

Coach commended his players for best behaviour.

St Benedict’s College 1st and U/16 hockey teams visited the Hague in the Netherlands for the HDM Easter Festival.

The school’s head of marketing, Ms Chantelle Burgin said the 1st team played seven, won three and lost four games.

“The competition was extremely tough and the boys can be proud of their achievements,” she said.

She said the U/16 team lost two of its warm-up games.

“At the festival the team played some exciting hockey. Of five games it played, the team won one, drew two and lost two. The tour was the perfect tonic for this team and will certainly stand them in good stead moving forward,” Ms Burgin said.

The team’s coach, Mr Byron Tennant commended his players for the behaviour they displayed on and off the field.

“We received numerous compliments from the various clubs and we hope that this experience will remain with these boys for a lifetime, and that they will continue with the greatest game ever played,” said Mr Tennant.
