Drug Free World held its Truth about Drugs Seminar in Kensington.
The seminar was held to address drugs and the effects thereof, both on a worldwide scale and in South Africa.
Ms Shaleen Wohrnitz, from Drug Free World, spoke at the Church of Scientology of Johannesburg on Saturday, June 25.
Ms Wohrnitz said Drug Free World does not just focus on the issue but they also address the all-important view of what can be done about it.
“Our main aim is to create a drug-free world and we do that by creating awareness and we issue important information in order to help communities have facts about drugs. It is very important for people to know the facts about drugs because young people don’t really know the truth about drugs.
“If they have the facts, that could save their lives. They need to know what drugs do to your health. Parents need to have information because that could save their children or family members’ lives,” said Ms Wohrnitz.
The seminar was attended by youth from all over Johannesburg.
“This seminar was not just for today because the people will be able to take the information received here and impart it to people in their communities. The aim was to provide information and material to the audience on how to educate others about the most commonly used drugs,” said Ms Wohrnitz.
