Women invited to have a cuppa for CANSA

At her Cuppa, hosted on Saturday August 13, Dr Lulli-Marucchi will celebrate Women's Month.

It’s all systems go for Dr Lilliana Lulli-Marucchi’s Cuppa For CANSA.

As part of the road to the finale of the Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa 2016, finalists are to host a cuppa in order to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

At her Cuppa, hosted on Saturday August 13, Dr Lulli-Marucchi will celebrate Women’s Month.

She said her sponsor, Maserati, has come on board to make the day a success.

“I invite fellow women to come and experience the magic of Maserati. This women’s month, my love for luxury sports cars will meet my passion for cancer awareness,” said Dr Lulli-Marucchi.

She said she is honoured to have an opportunity to host a cuppa.

“As a cancer survivor I know what cancer patients go through, from the diagnosis to telling family and friends. I knew the potential of where this could go and although everyone went into a panic, I knew I had to fight. It means so much to me to be able to help raise awareness and funds for the association. I think the work that they do in raising awareness and research is phenomenal. They also do a lot of work on their prevention campaigns which I think is very important,” she said.

Dr Lulli-Marucchi is a community service doctor at Tembisa Hospital’s Trauma Unit.

She said in her line of work she comes across women who are affected by cervical cancer.

“Especially between the ages of 20 and 35. A large number of women are still not doing pap smears. Most of them don’t even know that government clinics have the facilities for pap smears to be conducted. Gynaecological education is very close to my heart and for this reason I have interacted with over 80 patients [so far] during my lunch breaks at the hospital and offered guidance as far as taking care of their health is concerned,” she said.

She said tickets for the cuppa are selling at R200 each. All proceeds will go to CANSA.

The event will be hosted at LaTazzina in Edenvale and will run from 10am to 12-noon.

Dr Lulli-Marucchi is in the running for this year’s Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa tittle.

The grand finale will be on October 21 at Emperors Palace.
