Da Rocha is collecting soccer balls

It is time for annual charity events for Ward 66 councillor Carlos da Rocha so as to make a difference in children's lives.

The non-governmental organisation, We Care, with the help of Ward 66 councillor, Carlos da Rocha, are collecting toys for the children of Bertrams, a tradition that has been going on for a few years now.

“The founder of the organisation, Rene du Ploy, contacted me and asked me if iI could get my hands on soccer balls since it is the most popular toy for boys,” said Da Rocha.

“I have set up a charity drop-off point for soccer balls at Caffiain Coffee in Shop 1 Queens Court, at 136 Queen Street, Kensington with the help of the shop owner, Ian Wade.”

The councillor said the event has been successful in past years and this is his third year of collecting soccer balls.

He said they have also added a register that will be used for a public draw and the winner will win an all-expenses-paid Sunday breakfast run on a Harley Davidson with him and some of his biker friends.

The soccer balls cost R50 and residents can buy more than one.
