Foundation gets welcomed financial boost

Through the initiative, Colin estimates that the group raised approximately R40 000.

A group of 16 cyclists, who recently cycled 800 kilometres down to Durban to create awareness and to raise funds for testicular cancer, were successful in their mission.

Colin McCourt, the coordinator of the event, said the event went well.

The cyclists who represented the Love Your Nuts Foundation, left Edenvale on October 12 and ended the journey in Durban on October 16.

“It was successful. We raised a lot of awareness, both during the cycle down to Pietermaritzburg and during the Amashova Durban Classic Race down to Durban,” said Colin.

According to Colin, there was a large interest in what the group was doing and who they were representing.

Through the initiative, Colin estimates that the group raised approximately R40 000.

He said all the funds raised will go the Love Your Nuts Foundation.

“From this experience I learnt the importance of teamwork and true inner strength,” he said.

He said the team of cyclists helped each other and pulled each other up when it was needed.

Colin hopes to do a similar event next year to raise funds for the foundation.

“I hope to expand the initiative and invite more people,” he said.
