Bringing some Christmas joy to deserving children

The Bedfordview-based club donated Santa Shoeboxes, which will be handed over to the children who looked after by the group.

The Rotary Club of Bedfordview has vowed to bring smiles to the faces of children supported by the Boikanyo – The Dion Herson Foundation (DHF) in Soweto.
The DHF helps with handouts and upliftment programmes for the Soweto Parent and Child Counselling Centre (SPCCC).
The centre consists of a group of 10 social workers, auxiliary social workers and community care givers who go into informal settlements and deal with children and families living in dire conditions.
The Bedfordview-based club donated Santa Shoeboxes, which will be handed over to the children who looked after by the group.
The children will also be treated to a Christmas party, which will be held at the Johannesburg Zoo.
Rotary Rosebank will sponsor the children’s transport, while the Bedfordview branch will donate the shoeboxes as well take care of the braai on the day.
The club’s Mrs Filippa Heyneke said the benefiting children, who hail from child-headed homes, homes headed by grandmothers or homes run by mothers who suffer from ill health.
