Fighting crime on a united front

"The operation was held to try prevent crimes against women and children as well as other crimes in the area,"

The Edenvale SAPS and the Edenvale Community Police Forum recently held a joint operation as part of the 16 Days of Activism.

Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, said the operation saw members of the community as well as security from local shopping centres taking part.

During the operation, informative pamphlets were handed out to members of the public.

“The operation was held to try prevent crimes against women and children, as well as other crimes in the area,” said Capt Olckers.

He said the Mounted Unit of the SAPS also attended the event to increase police visibility and conduct policing.

“This operation formed part of our ongoing operations, which will take place over the festive season. By working together we can make a difference,” said Capt Olckers.
