Road closure and estate representatives urged to attend meeting with SAPS
“The meeting will act as a channel of communication between the community and the SAPS."
Warrant Officer Jimmy Masilela believes that good relationships and good communication between the SAPS and the community are vital to deterring crime in Edenvale.
To help achieve this, W/O Masilela who is the sector coordinator for the Edenvale SAPS, has decided to host a meeting between the representatives of committees of the road enclosures and estates from Edenvale’s four sectors. He also plans on meeting with members of sector policing.
The meetings will give the representatives the opportunity to raise issues and challenges which the enclosure or estate is facing.
W/O Masilela said the SAPS will address the issues raised by community members and will provide additional information to community members.
W/O Masilela said sector policing will also be explained to the community members at the meeting.
“The meeting will act as a channel of communication between the community and the SAPS. Community members must feel free to talk to their sector managers,” said W/O Masilela.
W/O Masilela said at the Edenvale SAPS there is a strong support structure to deal with community concerns.
He said if a sector manager needs advice with a concern, the sector coordinator (W/O Masilela) will be asked to assist. If the sector coordinator needs assistance the station commander will be asked for assistance.
The meeting for representatives from the various committees of road enclosures and estates will be held on February 15 at 7pm at the Edenvale SAPS board room.
“I urge the community to come and participate so that their concerns can be heard,” said W/O Masilela.
