Three suspects were arrested and a fourth was wounded during an attempted robbery in Sebenza this morning, February 21.
Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso, spokesperson of the Sebenza SAPS, said one of the suspects was wounded in a shootout with members of the SAPS.
The arrests came after information regarding the robbery was received by the provincial tracking team.
Sgt Tsotsotso said after receiving the information, 20 officers from the Sebenza SAPS and the provincial tracking team waited for the suspects at the business.
The wounded suspect was taken to hospital.
“An unlicensed firearm and a suspected stolen motor vehicle were recovered at the scene,” said Sgt Tsotsotso.
She added that two of the three suspects were on parole at the time of their arrest.
The four suspects will face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, attempted armed robbery, possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and attempted murder.
