An Edenvale primary school has withdrawn a letter sent out to parents in which it requests parents of foreign national learners to provide verified proof that both parents and children are legally residing in South Africa.

In the letter the school stated that if foreign national parents did not provide the requested information by February 24 the learners would not be permitted onto government school property on February 27.

The letter further read that if children did arrive on February 27 without the correct paperwork the police would be contacted and parents could then collect their children from the police station.

The letter was posted on social media.

Eastleigh Primary School’s principal told the NEWS the school could not engage with the media but confirmed that the letter was withdrawn.
