Jeppe headmistress honoured

KENSINGTON - Find out which headmistress is ranking tops in leadership within the school sector.

Headmistress of Jeppe High School for Girls, Dina Gonçalves came out on top in the Excellence in Secondary School Leadership category at a Provincial Teachers Awards ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi at the Tshwane Events Centre on 24 February.

Gonçalves was one of six nominees chosen from a group of schools within the Gauteng cluster.

Other nominees within the category included Ivan Bailey of Krugersdorp High School, Judith Mashala of Kgomotso Comprehensive High School, Michael Meyer of Sir John Adamson High School, Neo Kgalapa of Suncrest High School and Retha Du Toit of Afrikaans Hoerskool Germiston.

“Gonçalves will be the Gauteng representative for the National Teachers Awards on 11 March. The event will be televised on SABC. The staff and pupils of Jeppe Girls are extremely proud of Gonçalves,” said the school’s public relations officer, Carole Heming.
