Water restrictions lifted in Ekurhuleni

Metro encourages water conservation amid lifting of restrictions

Water restrictions were lifted in Ekurhuleni following Thursday night’s council meeting.

This confirmation follows the gazette by National Department of Water and Sanitation to lift water restrictions in Gauteng, after improved water levels at the Vaal Dam.

City of Ekurhuleni urged residents to continue using water sparingly.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe said: “Water restrictions have been lifted, but we urge residents and business to conserve water by always avoiding daytime irrigation between 7am and 5pm every day. When we water, for examples gardens, during the day, 40 percent of water evaporates due to sunlight.”

The lifting of the water restrictions brings to an end the water restrictions punitive tariffs.
