St Benedict’s pipe bands fare well in South Coast Highland Gathering

The school entered two bands into the competition, a Novice Band (B) and a Juvenile Band (A)

The St Benedict’s pipe bands recently travelled to Amanzimtoti to compete in the South Coast Highland Gathering.

Two bands were entered into the competition by the school, a novice and (B) and a juvenile band (A).

The novice band achieved a third place overall and third in drumming, while the juvenile band placed first overall and first in drumming.

A few boys also entered the solo competition the following day. The results were as follows:

Junior snare: first – Rahil Sookdeo and second – Ritvik Menon; open snare drumming: second – Ritvik Menon, third – Rahil Sookdeo; novice tenor drumming: second – Kabelo Mokoala; open tenor drumming: third – Reatile Maphoto; and junior tenor drumming: third – Kyle Grimsley.
