Senderwood ditch fixed

The hole, filled with water, had been left unattended for around six months

Two weeks ago a vehicle reversed into some excavations along a sidewalk on Chaucer Road, at the corner of Wordsworth in Senderwood.

According to ward 20 councillor Jill Humphreys, the ditch, filled with water, was caused by a botched water repair by the Ekurhuleni department of water and sanitation around six months ago.

Following a string of emails between Humphreys and the responsible department, the excavation on the pavement has finally been repaired.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the leak was repaired and the excavation closed on Monday evening, May 15.

“The reinstatement of paving will be completed before Friday, May 19, said Gadebe.
