“Listening to the music had a huge impact on me. I would listen to how the music was produced and the different elements in the songs.

“I grew up alone with my mum and for me, music was a comforter when I needed to escape or when I was going through a tough time,” explained Vuyina.

In 2012, at the age of 13, Vuyina’s singing career showed promising signs.

Through posting videos of herself doing covers on Youtube, Vuyina’s interest in singing increased as her confidence grew.

She said she received a lot of positive feedback and reviews on her posted covers.

In 2016, with the assistance of a local pharmacist, Vuyina was able to get in touch with the well-known SA band, Zebra and Giraffe.

Originally Vuyina had only wanted advice from the SA superstars, however, fate had something else in store for her.

Greg Carlin, vocalist and guitarist for the band offered to be Vuyina’s manager and producer.

With the assistance of Greg, Vuyina got her singing career on track.

The three singles Vuyina has released are I Know, Let you be you and All Night.

“Through my music, I hope to be a comfort to people going through a tough time. I want to make people feel something when they listen to my music even if it is just a dance,” said Vuyina.

The young star’s talents do not end at singing. In 2016 she decided to learn how to play the piano.

Vuyina explained that she writes her own lyrics for her songs and she wanted to know how to write and read music to ensure the songs and music work in harmony.

She believes she has the will and perseverance to be well known and she hopes to perform alongside Rihanna one day.

“Rihanna is just so different and she flaunts it. She does not conform to society,” said Vuyina.

Although Vuyina is on the path to stardom, she is determined to first matriculate from Edenvale High.

Vuyina said the best memory of her singing career so far, was when she released her first single I Know. “It was a big accomplishment for me,” she said

Vuyina encouraged aspiring musicians to be persistent.”If certain doors don’t open for you keep knocking on others. Eventually, someone will believe in you,” said Vuyina.
