The Red Bin Brigade's kite flying competition was held at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.

The Red Bin Brigade’s kite flying competition was held at the Edenvale Sports Grounds on August 5.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for charity.

Edna van Niekerk said the organisation places red bins at nursery schools around Edenvale and children can donate clothing, toys and any other items they want to give to charity.

“The Red Bin Brigade is a non-profit organisation, made up of a group of the more mature members of our community who assist with raising money for our local needy organisations and have also launched their own successful events,” said Edna.

Edna said, once a year, they go out to the schools and collect the red bins.

The organisation hosts various events throughout the year and the money collected is donated to local organisations such as Little Eden, SPCA, Edenvale Care Centre, Hospice and also Khanyisa Soup Kitchen.
