Kwando Zondo (13) said the key to being a good soccer player is passion and patience.

The learner from Malvern Primary School is a football star in the making.

He started playing soccer at a tender age.

He said his older brother inspired him to join the team for which he is currently playing in the Joburg East Football Association league, Sikelela Limited FC.

“Soccer has always been my passion from a young age. It has taught me to be patient and committed in everything I do,” said Kwando.

He is passionate about pursuing his soccer dream and has been attending soccer trials.

He said, “I go to trials to showcase my talent and only hope for the best and that I will be spotted by a good team to take me under its wings.

“I have been to Orlando Pirates and SuperSport trials but did not make it all the way. Attending those two trials has encouraged me to keep trying and not give up.”

He said he would love to play for Orlando Pirates one day because he has always looked up to them. He is inspired by the quality players they have produced.

Kwando said he is happy with his current team, Sikelela Limited FC, because they are winning their matches and the coach is dedicated to the team.

“My coach is a good coach because he encourages us not give up on our dreams. He tells us we must be dedicated and passionate about what we do and one day it will pay off,” said Kwando.
