Malvern forum to get a breath of fresh air

MALVERN – "We still are looking for people to join this interim body."

The Malvern Community Forum (MCF) is being revitalised.

According to the forum’s spokesperson, Mike Spadino, a group of concerned community members decided to get together to look at ways in which they could get better service delivery in Malvern from council.

“We decided that the only way to do this was to revitalise the MCF, which was successful before it was dissolved,” said Spadino.

The aim of the forum is to promote the rights, interests, and general welfare of it residents.

The forum will:

• Will act as a combined voice to the City of Johannesburg (COJ).

• Promote the safety and security of property and residents.

• Maintain and protect the property values of the area and to ensure that all applications for rezoning or other changes of land usage comply with legal requirements.

• Ensure that any projects for Malvern is not communicated to a small minority that is currently happing but to the wider community.

An interim body was established from community members present at meetings to get the process moving forward.

“The body will run the process till the MCF is revitalised and working efficiently. The interim body consists of chairwoman Nomvula Sidu, secretary Rose Monareng, deputy secretary Alois Mnisi and spokesperson Mike Spadino. We are still looking for people to join this interim body,” he said.

The MCF is a voluntary non-profit, non-political and non-theological organisation which consists of residents, tenants and business owners.
