Shannon girls excel in squash championships

They took part in the Prince SA Junior International Open in Parkview, as well as the Africa Junior Open held in Cape Town.

St Andrew’s School for Girls learners Rachel and Emma Shannon participated in two squash championships recently.

They took part in the Prince SA Junior International Open in Parkview, as well as the Africa Junior Open held in Cape Town.

The Prince SA Junior International Open was an international field consisting of players from the USA, Dubai, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe and SA.

Rachel played in the u-15 section and finished seventh overall.

She was the fifth placed South African.

Emma participated in the u-13 section and finished fifth overall. She was the third placed South African.

The Africa Junior Open was held at the UCT Sports Centre and was also an international field.

Rachel finished fifth overall and was the third South African in her respective age category.

Emma placed third overall and was the first placed South African in her age category.

Both Rachel and Emma were invited to attend the u-13 National Training Academy which will be held at Pretoria University’s High Performance Centre at the end of September.
