Swimmers from St Benedict’s aquatics team toured the United States during the August holidays giving them exposure to some of the best colleges, coaching and racing the States has to offer.

Starting off in New York, the boys competed in the 17-mile open water swim from Manhattan to Coney Island breaking the swim record and receiving a NYPD and Coast Guard salute and escort.

The team was hosted by a number of colleges for campus tours, recruiting opportunities and coaching including Yale, Kutztown, Catholic University and the University of Miami.

They also had an opportunity to train at the US Naval Academy and a number of other prestigious clubs and high school programmes in Washington, Baltimore, NYC, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Key Largo.

They then went on to finish off the tour with achieving the highest team score at the Key West gala.

The team looks forward to growing the relationships with US Colleges which will open doors of opportunity for the boys to be recruited once they complete high school.
