A delegation of experts joined heads in charting a road map for the establishment of a higher education institution in Ekurhuleni.
This took place during a university symposium that was held on September 21.
The symposium drew delegates from various sectors.
It comes after Ekurhuleni mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, highlighted the need to establish a university in Ekurhuleni.
“Being the host to the busiest airport, an aviation and manufacturing capital in Africa, the university symposium is a stepping stone to starting the journey towards building an institution that will ensure the city develops engineers, innovators and specialists in the fields of aviation, logistics and manufacturing, who will actively drive the city’s economy,” said Ekurhuleni’s spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
It is envisioned that the university will alleviate overcrowding of technical and vocational education and training colleges and lessen the challenge of accessibility to universities located outside Ekurhuleni.
