Swimmer competes in China

The world cup was held in Hong Kong, China from September 30 until October 1.

Lize-Mari de Beer, a grade 11 learner from St Andrew’s School for Girls, participated in the FINA /Airweave Swimming World Cup 2017.

The world cup was held in Hong Kong, China from September 30 until October 1.

While overseas she won the following awards:

• Fifth place in the mixed 4x50m medley relay in 1:45:66. The team consisted of Kristen Straszacher, Cameron van der Burgh, Chad le Clos and Lize-Mari de Beer.

• Sixth place in the mixed 4x50m freestyle relay in 1:40:97. The team consisted of Josh Stegen, James Dhooge, Lize-Mari de Beer and Jeanri Buys.

• Ninth place in the women’s 400m freestyle in 4:29:32.

• 11th place in women’ 100m freestyle in 58:41.

• 11th place in women’s 200m freestyle in 2:06:75.

• 14th place in women’s 50m freestyle in 27:74.
