The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms with a risk of heavy downpours and strong gusty winds for this afternoon.

According to Saws, heavy downpours may result in instances of urban flooding.

Today the presence of enhanced instability in the lower to mid regions of the atmosphere is expected to be a further factor contributing to improved chances of rainfall.

Due to light snowfall, significantly cooler conditions can be expected in Gauteng on Saturday.
