Superior childcare of utmost importance

Rotary Club of Bedfordview had speaker and principal, Josua du Plessis, from Elandspark School address them at the Belgravia Bowling Club on December 5.

Josua gave a presentation to the members and guests on early childhood development, which is a pilot project for 2018.

Rotarian Angela Broom of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview donated an approximate amount of R12 000 to the project.

“The investment to start up practical facilities for early childhood development at Elandspark School registers with me,” said Angela.

She believes in the concept and opportunities it presents to the learners in terms of work opportunities as well as the development of life skills which will enhance childcare from infancy – in the workplace, family and extended family.

“Learners who are given those skills have much to contribute to society and have a foundation for further development and qualifications,” said Angela.

The business plan for early childhood development centres at Elandspark School in Bedfordview was presented as a subject.

The vision is to embrace the new technical occupational curriculum offered to learners at special educational needs schools by implementing the subject (early childhood development) to learners at Elandspark School and to equip them with critical skills for the future.

The mission of the school is to improve its training courses by reconstructing two training centres for early childhood development that will represent a senior and junior facility.
