The forum held its first meeting for 2018 on January 11.
“Our first meeting has set the tone for this year and we are ready for what lies ahead. We had fruitful discussions about the programme of action for this year,” said CPF chairperson Zola Dambula.
The chairperson said he is also pleased to see the sectors committed to their duties.

“Sector crime forums have also highlighted their activities, events and the campaigns they would like to have in their sectors this year. This is a sign of dedication,” said Dambula.
Most of the sectors also had their first meetings for 2018.

“Sector 3 met at Maurice Freeman Hall in Bertrams on January 13, followed by Sector 4’s meeting on January 18. Sector 2 had its meeting on January 20 at Bertha Solomon Recreation Centre, and Sector 1 met on January 24 at Mandeville Sports Centre. We urge residents to attend these meetings because this is the platform where we can discuss all the issues and concerns affecting our community.”
Dambula said he was happy to see stakeholders and organisations such as the SAPS attending forum meetings.
“It’s important to work together if we want to win the war on crime, and to see all these different stakeholders in attendance shows commitment, and that can only produce good results.”
He encouraged businesses to become part of the different forums relevant to them.
“We have the Jeppe SAPS Liquor Forum, Jeppe SAPS Taxi Forum, Jeppe SAPS Security Forum and Jeppe Secondhand Dealers’ Forum. We plan on reviving the Jeppe SAPS Women and Children’s Forum. All these forums play a crucial role and we would like to encourage people to join them,” said Dambula.
“With all that we have planned for 2018, we need the public to support the sector crime forums. We encourage the community to attend sector crime forum meetings in their respective areas.”
The Jeppe SAPS Taxi Forum’s meeting will be held at Jeppe SAPS on February 2.
Dates for other forum meetings will be announced in due course.
