Residents gather around the new board and, in a single move, release the colourful balloons.

The new logo was launched in November.

The home is one of the Flower Foundation villages, and Kensington Gardens is where the Flower Foundation, an NGO, was established in 1964.

The first residents of Kensington Gardens arrived in 1963 and lived in an original Bezuidenhout family home, now a national heritage house.

In the late 1960s and again in the 1980s, units of various designs and sizes were built – 77 in all.

The home also boasts a spacious and comfortable community centre called the Garden Inn.
