LATEST: Missing Grandad (79) found safe

The NEWS has received confirmation from the SAPS that he was found safe in Carolina, Mpumalanga.

Missing 79-year-old John Smith has been found safe.

The NEWS has received confirmation from the SAPS that he was found safe in Carolina, Mpumalanga.

According to Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso, Smith was found in an old age home where he was positively identified by his family.

 

 

REPORTED EARLIER:

Smith was reported missing by his family.

“He went for a walk on April 10 around 10:30am but never returned to his home in Croydon, Kempton Park. His family said he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease which makes him relive his past memories.

“They said he has been constantly talking about places like the Kruger National Park,” said Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso.

She said someone reported to have seen him on Baker Road and he was also seen on N12 heading towards Nelspruit.

He is described as:

• 79 years old

• White

• Green eyes, grey hair

• 1.65 meters tall and weighs approximately 85kg

• Wearing blue jeans, navy polo shirt, red and black trainers and a khaki jacket.
