Edenvale SAPS have opened an inquest docket after the body of a 75-year-old man was found in his lower Avenues home.

The body of the foreign national man was found by the owner of the property last night (May 23) just after 6 pm.

Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson of the Edenvale Police Station, said the property owner had tried to get hold of the deceased on several occasions.

Failing to do so the property owner visited the property to check in on the tenant.

“There was no sign of forced entry, police do not suspect foul play,” said Olckers.

“The cause of death is unknown the police are waiting for  forensic results.”

Olckers said it was unknown how long the man had been dead for.

He encouraged community members to visit elderly residents regularly.
