Fund-raising soccer tournament for World Youth Day

Scrap Metal won R3 000 for first place, while Elite 7 won R2 000 for second place.

The Panama World Youth fund-raiser Soccer Day tournament was held at Bedfordview Primary School on May 19.

The tournament had teams from the age of 16 years and up competing with the winning team walking away with a cash prize.

The runners-up of the Soccer Day, Elite 7.

The final match saw Scrap Metal and Elite 7 go head to head, leaving the Dream Team in third place.

Mduduzi Mohola scored a hat-trick securing the win for Scrap Metal.

Scrap Metal won R3 000, while Elite 7 won R2 000 for second place.

The fund-raiser acquires funds for the youth of Blessed Sacrament Malvern Catholic Church to go to Panama for World Youth Day in January 2019.

The trip will have 30 youths hoping to go to Panama.

Miguel Goncola, Daniella de Freitas and Rafael Gonçalves are the youngsters who organised the fund-raiser for a chance to go to Panama for World Youth Day.

Parents of the youths helped out by selling food and drinks on the day in support of the fund-raiser.

The next fund-raiser event will be at St Benedict’s College on June 2 and will be a Dinner Dance.
