#NewsYouCanUse: Visit the Bedfordview Library

“The library currently has about 71 000 media material,” said Gadebe.

The Bedfordview Library is situated on 3 Hawley Road, Geldenhuis Estate.

Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the City of Ekurhuleni, said the library has three sections: adult, children and reference.

“The library currently has about 71 000 media material. The adult section has access to a wide variety of printed and audio-visual media, including audiobooks, CDs and DVDs,” said Gadebe.

“The children’s library strives to nurture a love of reading and learning in young library users.”

The library caters for children of all ages, from picture books for toddlers to the latest best sellers for teenagers and young adults.

“This section also houses a well-equipped Educational Toy Library,” said Gadebe.

Free internet usage is available in the reference section of the library, with ample public computer access, study space and photocopying and printing services.

Gadebe said they also provide assistance with research and finding information with projects.

He said the library also has regular programmes presented at the library such as school tours, library orientation, holiday programmes and story hour.

“There is free access for all active members of the library in the ‘overdrive’ programme,” said Gadebe.

Members get an electronic version of a printed book, which can be borrowed by library users electronically for a period of two weeks.

There is also an auditorium available under conditions and payment fees.

You can contact the library on 011 999 0083.
