Jacket donation to warm hearts and bodies
Led by Nkati Shibodze, who has a passion for community and charity work, the Stay Queening Foundation offers programmes, projects and services aimed at improving the quality of life and wellbeing of the communities in which it operates.
Hearts and bodies were warmed at Rand Aid’s Thembalami Care Centre on Saturday, July 14, when non-profit organisation Stay Queening Foundation arrived with a gift of jackets for all residents and staff members.
Thembalami, which incorporates the Max Ordman Deaf Association (MODA), is based in Lombardy East and cares for physically and/or financially vulnerable elders.
“We had an amazing time with the residents. It was such a fulfilling experience to receive so much warmth and love,” said the foundation’s Busi Shibodze.

“Nine ‘earth angels’ arrived on the Saturday with a mountain of jackets for our 115 residents. They put the jackets out and each resident could choose the one they best liked,” said Elize Raath, the Thembalami manager.
“Those residents who could not get a jacket in their size were told that they would receive their jackets on the Monday. They were overjoyed when mother-and-daughter Busi and Nkati walked through the door, as promised, with the right-sized garments,” says Raath.
Shibodze’s motto is ‘Give without remembering and receive without forgetting’ and this underlies the work done by the foundation, which was started by Shibodze and another young woman, Lindiwe Mthethwa.
