1st Bedfordview Scout Group around since 1928
The Scouts recently helped clear invasive species from the Bill Stewart Nature Reserve and built facilities at the Modderfontein Nature Reserve.
The 1st Bedfordview Scout Group recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in style with a formal dinner at St Benedict’s College.

Alumni joined current members of the group in celebration of years of friendship, fun and service that cut across the generation gap.
In celebration, attendees learnt about the history of the Scouts, which was first registered on July, 26, 1928.

They have been around almost as long as the town of Bedfordview, which was registered in 1926.

The Scouts recently helped clear invasive species from the Bill Stewart Nature Reserve and built facilities at the Modderfontein Nature Reserve.

In decades past, the Scouts would take on duties as pointsmen when robots were out of order and they also assisted the Bedfordview Fire Brigade when they were short-staffed.
They were also responsible for helping set up a Toastmasters club in Bedfordview.
The Scouts boast the oldest continuously running rover crew in South Africa and have produced 73 Springbok Scouts since the 1970s.
