Holiday fun at the Boys & Girls Club of Bertrams

JOBURG – Children will have fun while learning what they don’t learn inside and outside the classroom.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa in Bertrams will be running a holiday programme from October 1 to 8.

The club’s marketing coordinator Sne Vilakazi urged the community to take part in the programme.

“Each day promises to be exciting with a multitude of activities that contribute to the holistic wellbeing of children. There will be arts and crafts, indigenous games, edu-games, Lovelife sessions, drama for life workshops, science experiments and a disco to end off the week. Activities will run from 10am to 6pm every day. We will cater for schoolgoing children of all ages. The children will receive breakfast and lunch,” she said.

Vilakazi said the club is important as it will help young people stay away from risky behaviours and to be productive in their spare time.

“Research done by the club suggests that teenagers are less likely to drink, engage in unsafe sexual activity or do drugs when they have a relationship with one or more of the staff members at the club. Joining the club has many more benefits for children and their development,” she said.
