“The clubs newly elected vice-president Gavin Chisholm’s stellar performance as Contest Chair welcoming all members, visitors and guests followed by announcing the rules of the contest of engagement and introducing the contestants which were then awarded certificates of participation,” said Michael McGonigle from Bedfordview Toastmasters.

He said that Carolyn Williams took third place, Keren Osler took second and Darren Barr was awarded first place as best speaker.

This was followed by the evaluation speech contest where Darren Barr was awarded first place as best evaluation speaker, Michael McGonigle second and Seshnee Govender third.

McGonigle said the evening ended with the Table Topics contest where speakers were given one to two minutes to present an impromptu speech on the same topic, where McGonigle took first place.

“The demo speaker for the evening was Calvin Kanyoli from Benoni Toastmasters Club who delivered a great speech which each contestant was given an opportunity to evaluate,” said McGonigle.
