Excellence in green property design
Balwin's CEO Steve Brookes announced the company’s world record recently at the Kiyuku Waterfall Estate.

Balwin Properties broke a world record with its largest green Edge registration of 16 000 units.
Balwin has its footprint in and around Modderfontein with two estates, The Reid and Westlake Eco-Estate.
The JSE-listed company CEO, Steve Brookes, announced the world record recently at the Kikuyu Waterfall Estate.
Brookes said Balwin has registered more homes with Edge certification than any other property developer.
“Edge stands for ‘excellence in design for greater efficiency’.”
Sian Cohen, the team manager at the Green Building Council of SA, said this is not the first green registration from the developer.
“Balwin has registered other developments with Edge before but this is the biggest registration.”
Brookes spoke more on the green efforts they made with solar panels on their properties.
“Our clients get the benefit of low electricity charges and this lowers the carbon footprint.
“We challenge all our peers and the whole development industry to keep up with our standard and go for Edge certification.
“This makes for a better environment for clients and a better South Africa,” said Brookes
“Going forward, Edge certification will be on all our developments like The Reid in Linbro Park,“ said Lisa Sinclair, the PR manager of Balwin.
The teams that help with the registration were the Green Building Council of SA and Solid Green Consulting.
